Disney World District Ends Diversity Programs

The special district that governs the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida announced on Tuesday that it was ending its diversity, equity and inclusion programs. This decision is firmly in line with Gov.

Ron DeSantis’s efforts to limit such measures in areas like higher education. The move has been met with mixed reactions, with some applauding the decision as a step towards focusing on merit and individual achievement, while others have criticized it as a step backwards in the fight for equality and inclusion.

This is just the latest in a series of moves by Gov. DeSantis to curtail diversity, equity and inclusion programs in Florida. Earlier this year, he signed into law a bill banning the teaching of critical race theory in schools, and has also championed efforts to limit such programs in higher education."
